The main features of roots are:

• Non-green due to absence of chlorophyll
• Not divided into nodes and internodes
• Absence of leaves and buds
• Positively geotropic (grow towards gravity)
• Positively hydrotropic (grow towards water)
• Negatively phototropic (grow away from light)
