Main Characteristics
- Segmented body, can be differentiated into head, thorax and abdomen
- Head and thorax often fused to form cephalothorax
- Jointed legs for locomotion, one pair each on some or all body segmentsÂ
- Exoskeleton of chitinous cuticle, shed at intervals (moulting)
- Sexes usually separate.
