Renewable Energy Sources

The fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas meet most of the energy needs of the world today. But what will happen when the reserves of these non-renewable sources of energy get completely exhausted? We also need to pay attention to the damaging effects of fossil fuels on the environment.

The solution must lie in switching to alternative sources of energy and environment-friendly natural fuels. There are several alternative and renewable sources of energy which are not only environment friendly but can also be available in abundance. Water, wind, sunlight, geothermal, sea waves, hydrogen and biomass are some such possible sources of energy.

In addition to the renewability, there are other reasons why we should look to switching over to such sources.

  • To reduce pollutants, greenhouse gases and toxins that are by-products of nonrenewable sources of energy.
  • The use of alternative energy sources can help preserve the delicate ecological balance of the earth, and help conserve the non-renewable energy sources like fossil fuels.
  • Renewable sources are inexhaustible.

Fortunately, there are many means of harnessing renewable sources of energy which have less damaging effects on our environment.
