Impulse
The effect of force applied for a short duration is called impulse. Impulse is defined as the product of force (F) and the time duration (∆t) for which the force is applied.
Impulse = F.∆t

Impulse is equal to change in linear momentum. It in a vector quantity and its SI unit is kgms–1 (or N s).
