Types of Transformers

There are two types of transformers:

1. Step-up Transformer
2. Step-down Transformer

A step-up transformer increases the voltage (decreases the current) in secondary windings. In such transformers, the number of turns in secondary is more than the number of turns in primary.

A step-down transformer decreases the voltage (increases the current) in the secondary windings. In such transformers, the number of turns in secondary is less than the number of turns in the primary.
