The Tapi river rises in Betual district in the Satpura range and flows westward like the Narmada. After flowing Satpura range, it turns to the south.
After emerging out of the Bhuranpur Gap, it receives the Purna.
It flows in between Satpura range in the North and Ajanta range in the South. After making an estuary below Sural, it falls into the Gulf of Cambay.
Its length is 700 km.
