India is the second largest producer of vegetables in the world next only to China. It contributes about 13 percent to the world vegetable production.

India occupies first position in the production of cauliflowers (फूलगोभी), second in onion (प्याज़), and third in cabbage (गोभी) in the world. Other major vegetable crops are potato (आलू), peas (मटर), tomato (टमाटर) and bringal.

More than fifty varieties of vegetables are grown in India.
