All India Muslim League, 1906
A group of Muslim landlords and nawabs formed the All India Muslim League at Dacca in 1906. The League supported the partition of Bengal. It desired separate electorates for Muslims, a demand conceded by the government in 1909.
The All India Muslim League was founded by the All India Muhammadan Educational Conference at Dhaka (now Bangladesh) in 1906. Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah (Aga Khan III) was appointed the first Honorary President of the Muslim League. The headquarters were established at Lucknow.
