The square is a special rectangle in which length and breadth are equal.
Perimeter of square = 2 × (Length + Length) = 4 x Length or 4 times the length of the side of the square.
Example 1: A square carrom board is of side 90 cm. Find its perimeter.
Perimeter of carrom board = 4 × 90 cm = 360 cm
Area of square = length × length = (length)2 = (side)2
Example 2: The area of a square is 784 m2. Find its side.
Area of square = side × side = (side)2
784 = (side)2
side = √784
Side of square = 28 cm
Example 3: Find the area of square whose perimeter is 80 m.
Perimeter of square = 4 × (side)
4a = 80
a = 20 m
Area of square = (20)2 = 400 m2
